Folk at CYM
CYM has two Folk Ensembles, run in partnership with the English Folk Dance and Song Society and supported by the The Brook Trust. They are open to both CYM students and to school-aged students from across London who do not attend the full CYM programme. There is no need to read music as learning within sessions is by ear. The ensembles take place on Saturday afternoons, 2.00pm – 3.00pm (for young people aged 11 – 14 years) and 3.15 – 4.15pm (for young people aged 15 – 18 years). The Folk Ensemble for younger students plays at approximately Grade 4 – 5 level; the older students play at approximately Grade 6 + standard. They are aimed at young people who play any instrument – strings, wind, guitars, percussion, keyboard, etc. There may also be the opportunity to play a traditional folk instrument as well (Please note that singers are not included at the moment). There will be 10 sessions per term charged at the Ensemble only price: Fees
